Owen Bland, a junior International Relations major, minoring in Theatre Arts from Willington, Connecticut. This is his third year being included in the humanitas journal.

Lauren Blois is a senior Politics major and Communication minor from Wakefield, Massachusetts. At Saint Anselm College, she is an active member of the NHIOP Ambassador Program, as well as the Pep and Jazz bands. Lauren has worked at WMUR, New Hampshire’s ABC News affiliate, during her last three semesters and hopes to have a career in journalism. Lauren values the importance of a liberal arts education at Saint Anselm College and wishes to always remain connected to the special campus community.

Blake Brewer is a sophomore classical archaeology major from Miami, Florida. He’s especially interested in the ancient world and how it still connects to our lives today. He loves learning new things, meeting new people, and growing through my experiences. One of his main goals is to share his passion for history with others and make it more interesting and accessible. He is also actively working to improve mental health in his community by encouraging open conversations, supporting others, and helping create a more positive and understanding environment.

Krista Carroll is a sophomore poet and writer from Texas who studies English and Classics with a specialization in ancient Greek.

Jake Donovan is a senior Communication major from Reading, MA. Passionate about sports, especially hockey, he has spent four years playing for Saint Anselm College’s club hockey team and stayed active on campus through the Red Key Society. Jake takes pride in this piece, as it gave him the opportunity to tell Joe’s story and explain how he found his purpose here at school.

Jaclyn Dziadose is a Politics and Music double major with a minor in International Relations. Additionally, she is President of French Club, a NHIOP Ambassador where she is an Events Committee Co-Chair, and a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, Delta Epsilon Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Pi Gamma Mu. She loves learning about the mutual influence of the political and musical world. In her free time, she plays the cello, sings in the college choir, and loves to paint rocks and compose music! 

Emily Gaudet is a freshman criminal justice major. She is very interested in environmental issues and human nature relationships, which she reflects through my art, writing, and photography. Her goals with my work are to encourage people to explore their relationship with nature as well as to inform them of ways they can be more environmentally conscious.

Isabelle Gross is a senior Theology major with a minor in Education. She is a peer tutor in the ARC, a student worker at Geisel Library, the 2025-2026 Theology Department Ambassador, and a member of the college choir. She loves old books, hot tea, coffee with lots of milk, and long conversations. Isabelle is grateful for the ongoing support she has received from her professors, friends, and others in the Saint Anselm community, especially those who encouraged her to write poetry and the people who have (often unknowingly) provided inspiration for her poems.

Sarah Guillemette is a junior Elementary Education major with a minor in Special Education from Weare, NH. On campus, she is actively involved with the Meelia Center for Community Engagement, serving as an Access Academy Instructor, new student mentor, and MooreTogether ambassador. She is also the president of the Education Society, an orientation leader, and a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially outdoors. 

Aidan Harrington is a junior Classics Major in the Honors program from Plainville, MA. He will be presenting a Shakespeare sonnet for the second year in a row at the Annual Celebration of William Shakespeare’s Birthday, outside the Grappone Humanities Institute. He enjoys prowling bookstores and consequently resides in a room cartoonishly overflowing with books. 

Brigid Hughes is a senior international relations major with a French minor from Farmington Hills, Michigan. She will be continuing my education at Saint Anselm next year through the Master's in Public Policy Program and hoping to further my research into NGO intervention. Outside of academics, she is a member of the debate team, the Seton service society,  and student government. Last year, she studied abroad in the south of France, which was ultimately her favorite experience to come from Saint A's.

Mei Justic is a sophomore majoring in Social Work with minors in Asian and Gender Studies, who enjoys art and writing poetry. Mei is actively involved on campus as a member of the women’s club ice hockey team and serves as a Transitions Mentor, helping to foster a sense of belonging for first-year students. Mei is also the Vice President of T.E.D.A., which supports the LGBTQ+ community at Saint Anselm. 

Vivi Kane is an Honors psychology senior and proud graduate from Manchester Community College, holding an associate’s degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration on substance use disorders. A self-proclaimed “psychologist by nature and poet at heart,” she is also mother to a 4-year-old daughter attending lectures and campus events. When she isn’t losing sleep over college assignments, Vivi chooses to lose sleep listening to podcasts and watching sociocultural video essays.

Brandon LeBlanc is a senior Communication Major and Graphic Design Minor from Wrentham, MA. He attended Bishop Feehan High School and is a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams. In addition to running, he enjoys writing for the St. Anselm Crier’s sports section, playing the drums, and reading history. 

Sydney Mazur is a creative and detail-oriented Communication major. She has skills in marketing, media creation, and theater arts at both the collegiate and professional level. Sydney also serves as the Director of Props for the theater program as well as working as a Resident Assistant on campus for three years. Sydney also has written for the culture section of The Crier, Saint Anselm’s student newspaper. 

Julia Mehlin is a senior English major and Professional and Creative Writing minor. With a specific passion for Victorian Literature, Julia hopes to continue her studies in that field after graduation. She is honored and grateful to be published among her talented peers in humanitas, and she looks forward to pursuing writing in the future.

Nora McGuinness is a senior Communication major and Spanish minor from Bedford, New Hampshire. Nora is currently working as a student intern in the College’s Office of International Programs as well as the Office of College Communications and Marketing and also spent a semester studying abroad in Seville, Spain!

Maryrose McLaughlin is a senior philosophy and music double major at Saint Anselm College. Maryrose’s academic focuses include piano and voice performance, conducting, composition, and Early Modern musicological research. When not at school, Maryrose lives and works in New London, NH as a part-time dental assistant and line cook. In her free time, she enjoys writing, painting, baking, traveling, and spending time outside.

Mary Morkunas is a Senior English and Secondary Education major from Paxton, Massachusetts, and this is her first time being published in Humanitas. After graduation, she plans on starting my career as an English teacher for grades 6-12. She would like to thank all my professors and parents for always supporting me through college, as they have all shaped her love for reading and writing. 

Jennifer Patient is a senior English major. In addition to studying English as a first-generation college student, she also serves Campus Ministry as Team Director for Delight Women’s Bible Study and as a leader for Anselmian B.R.E.A.K. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the beautiful scenery in NH through hikes and camping trips. After graduating, she looks forward to pursuing Christian ministry and a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology.

Norah Smith (she/her) is an aspiring writer and poet from Pelham, NH. She is currently a senior at Saint Anselm College, majoring in English with minors in creative and professional writing and gender studies. You will typically find her face buried in some form of a book in her free time, either reading, writing, drawing, or singing.

Caraline Stewart is a senior from Brimfield, Massachusetts. While majoring in mathematics and in music, she revels in her passion for all things art. She writes and performs music in any spare moment she finds and enjoys painting when the inspiration comes. On campus, she is an RA, a peer tutor at the ARC, and serves as Senior Advisor of Alpha Lambda Delta. Although Caraline hopes to pursue a career in data analytics, she will always be creating art in some way shape or form.

Isabella Uva  is a senior History major with minors in English and Gender Studies. She is the co-president of the college’s Thomas More Debate Society and treasurer of the History Society. Isabella works at the Geisel Library in the Interlibrary Loan department and the Archives as well as working over the summer at the American Antiquarian Society. In her spare time she enjoys crocheting, reading, and playing with her young cousins. After graduation, Isabella plans on pursuing her Master’s in Library and Information Sciences with a concentration in Archives Management at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Kaitlyn West is a Senior English major and music minor from Nashua, New Hampshire, where she attended public school and played field hockey and lacrosse. Throughout my time on the Hilltop, she spent a season playing field hockey, has written for the Crier, participated in various clubs, and taken violin lessons. When she is not busy with my academics, she loves to explore coastal towns and coach field hockey. Upon graduation, she plans to work at Sophia Institute Press, a Catholic publishing firm in Nashua.
