The Whipple Scholarship provides tuition assistance to one Saint Anselm student who is conducting a major research project during their senior year on any aspect of the history, art, literature, music, or philosophical/scientific thought of the Eighteenth Century.

The 2026 Whipple Scholar is Norah Smith, whose work “‘Meum et Tuum:’ Mrs. Morgan, Millenium Hall, and Homosocial Intimacy in the Eighteenth-Century Upper Class” investigates the varied homosocial relations among women in Sarah Scott’s utopian novel.

Norah, an aspiring writer and poet from Pelham, NH, is a senior at Saint Anselm College, majoring in English with minors in creative and professional writing and gender studies.
