  • Any student currently at Saint Anselm College is invited to submit their work to the college’s journal

  • The length of submissions varies.

    Generally speaking, we are looking for fiction, non-fiction, academic papers, essays, and feature articles ranging from 1,000 - 3,000 words

    Poems are accepted at any length

    Digital artwork and graphica is submitted as either a jpeg or png file with at least 300dpi

  • We seek undergraduate creative writing and research in the humanities, broadly understood. You may submit poetry and fiction and your research might include historical, literary, or artistic analysis, theoretical critique, philosophical inquiry, or creative research.

    It must be a piece of writing you submitted as part of your coursework for a grade, and it should be have already been revised according to Humanitas’s citation criteria.

  • All submissions must be in APA or Chicago Style format. No footnotes are permitted - only endnotes. Works Cited pages and referenced images may be placed after the endnotes.

  • Authors are responsible for obtaining the copyright permissions for all materials they submit. Humanitas will only print pieces that comply with fair use law. We cannot help you to obtain rights over outside material, but, we will ensure that authors maintain the rights over their intellectual property. There are no restrictions on how you might use your intellectual work before, during, or after it has been published in Humanitas.

  • Please send an email to HumanitasJournal@anselm.edu with your name, major, year of graduation, and the genre of your text.

  • Once your work is submitted in the Fall, it will be reviewed by the editorial staff on a rolling basis throughout the Winter. Work may be accepted, accepted with revisions, or denied by the editorial staff. Submitters will be notified by December for the first submission deadline, and January for the final.

  • If your work has been accepted or conditionally with revisions, our editors will meet with authors to help meet the requirements of the journal.
